Really impressive how clearly you explained all these tones in such a short time. I'm a total beginner and learnt some phrases with anki as I use it to learn Japanese, confused about the tones and why they didn't line up with how some other sources explained them (esp the third tone being a rising falling tone even though it never is in the examples I learned thus far 😂) and pretty much all of it clicks when I relisten to those phrases. 谢谢

In Shanghainese (not Mandarin but the dialect), you also say 脚踏车 for bicycle.

I appreciate you teaching but to give us five different examples to say the same thing makes it five times ten times harder to learn. Just give one example and stick with that answer. Possibly add four different ways to say the same thing on a more advanced teaching Thank you Xie xie

So “嗯” by itself means “k”. But what about “嗯嗯”? I know it sounds friendlier than 嗯, but what does 嗯嗯 exactly imply?

Thanks for finally convincing me that China and Taiwan are completely different. I always thought Taiwan was almost same as China because its literally right next to China. Weird how I mainly hear and recognize the Taiwan language in Chinese Martial Arts Movies. Or at least Stephen Chow. He sounds like he's speaking Taiwanese.

我住在比利时的时候，我觉得倒垃圾很麻烦。隔日需要倒垃圾，因为每天垃圾车过拾到不过一种垃圾，比如星期一来拾到塑料废物，星期三有机废弃物等。问题是如果你倒错种垃圾，比如星期一倒有机废弃物，不但垃圾工拾不到垃圾，而且你被罚款。是每种垃圾需要在对颜色的袋里放着，塑料废或者金属物是蓝色的，有机废弃物是橙色的等。如果你在错颜色的袋里一种垃圾，不但拾不到垃圾，而且你被罚款。别的问题是有时候垃圾车没过，所以在走到上放着很多垃圾袋。

So you are basically saying Taigi is formal Chinese. 其 is pronunced as ê, and 未 is pronounced as buē. So 你去過我ê店buē in Taigi is literally 爾去過我其店未？
